Shown here is the Milky Way straddling the eastern horizon over the main telescope field at Camp Oakes. In the foreground is the Charles Z. Walker Observatory, vendor tents, and some attendees desparately seeking some active telescopes (a rarity at this particular RTMC).

The 2008 RTMC Astronomy Expo was a bit sparse due to the weather and the phase of the moon (waning gibbous). The first day saw pea-sized hail, snow, and very cold temperatures. Still, unknown to many of the attendees who left early or went to bed, the skies cleared up quite nicely each evening around 9pm.
