Processing: Image acquisition, DFR, FFR, alignment, median combine, and color combine in CCDSoft. Levels, curves, unsharp mask in Photoshop. Other Notes: M101 is a magnitude 7.92 spiral galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major.

Notice NGC5473 (mag. 11.40, galaxy) at 10 o'clock (relative to M101), NGC5477 (mag. 13.80, galaxy) at 12 o'clock, and NGC5474 (mag. 11.41, galaxy) at 3 o'clock. The very small, very faint MCG9-23-25 (mag 14.92, galaxy) is also visible in the image at 7 o'clock but is difficult to distinguish from a star.
